Getting your child ready for the Spring 2026 baseball or softball season can feel like a race against the clock. If you’ve already registered for your local little league or youth organization, the next question is usually: “Is my kid actually ready for the first pitch?”

Whether your 5-year-old is picking up a glove for the first time or your 12-year-old is looking to move up to the majors, the bridge between registration and Opening Day is often built indoors.

At R3 Athlete Performance in Holtsville, we’ve become the “pre-season home” for athletes from leagues across the 10-mile radius of Holtsville—including Sachem, Connetquot, Patchogue-Medford, and beyond. Here’s why local parents are choosing our Pre-Season Prep Clinic to kick off their 2026 season.

Why Pre-Season Training Matters (Ages 5-12)

Spring in New York is notoriously unpredictable. By the time the snow melts and the town fields are dry enough to play, the season is often already underway. This leaves very little time for actual skill development.

For the First-Timer (The “Newbie” Phase)

If your child is between 5 and 7 and has never played, the first game can be overwhelming. Our clinic focuses on the “First Game Fears”:

  • Confidence: Learning how to stand in the batter’s box without fear.

  • Basics: Understanding where to throw the ball once they catch it.

  • Safety: Proper glove positioning so they don’t get hit by the ball.

For the Experienced Player (The “Refinement” Phase)

For 8-12 year olds, the game gets faster. If they haven’t picked up a bat since last fall, “rust” is real. We help them:

  • Increase Bat Speed: Using modern drills to find their power.

  • Refine Mechanics: Cleaning up throwing motions to protect their arms and increase accuracy.

  • Situational IQ: Moving beyond the basics to understand “game situations”—where to be on a cutoff, backing up bases, and more.

How to Register for March 2026

Space in our indoor facility is limited to ensure a low player-to-coach ratio. Don’t let your child walk onto the field on Opening Day feeling behind the curve.
